Get Ready For The Green Parent Holiday Gift List

I usually make it a rule in my house that we don’t talk, shop, or decorate for Christmas until the day after Thanksgiving. Any sooner than that and we risk an all-encompassing holiday burn-out. This year, however, I am making an exception, so that I can thoroughly research all of the eco-savvy new games/books/toys/and gizmos out there and have my Green Parent Holiday Gift List ready before you hit the stores.

So, I’m making my list and I’ll be checking it twice. If you know of a cool green something or other (product, gift card, charity, etc.) that you think should make the list, drop me a line. And be sure to check back here on Green Friday (formerly known as Black Friday) for a list of earth-friendly gifts that will please everyone on your shopping list.

Well, not exactly a gift, but, I thought these should get a mention
Because, dang, all that wasted electricity this time of year.

    ps.
Nice to see you, and I’ll be getting a copy of your book, once I get mine into the publisher.

I love giving gifts from stores which have handmade items from fairly payed artisans (10,000 Villages, etc). I also LOVE giving used stuff (or even better-treasures from my own home that someone will appreciate more than me

When asked for a list for myself, I only ask for stuff from private, non-chain businesses, or a gift cert. to the Goodwill Store.

After staying out of department stores, my kids are actually following this example (except for those dang American Girl dolls).

Great site Jen! I am looking forward to following it and can’t wait for the book!

(can you guess who this is?)

    Jen,

I don’t like Wal-Mart, but I do like American whiskey which can be fairly eco-friendly as an American product, which reuses most all of its’ byproducts. That is another gift we give fairly often and feel good about.

I’ll bet you have me now!
