Buy The Green Parent and Help Plant One Million Trees!
Every year, roughly 20 million trees are cut down to supply paper for books sold in the U.S. Couple that with the extensive amounts of water, chlorine, toxic binders, and petroleum-based inks that are used to create your favorite new title, and it makes for an industry that can be quite toxic to the environment.
So I couldn’t be happier that The Green Parent:A Kid-Friendly Guide to Earth-Friendly Living is published by Kedzie Press…an independent green publisher that uses 100% post-consumer waste recycled paper that is FSC-certified and processed chlorine free in the production of all of it’s books. And as if these efforts weren’t eco-friendly enough, Kedzie Press has taken green publishing to a new level by launching their Million Tree-A-Thon in collaboration with EcoLibris. As part of this initiative, Kedzie Press is planting one tree for every book sold, with the goal of planting one million trees by December 2009.

O.K. I’ll admit that I am tremendously biased in this case. But even if Kedzie Press weren’t my publisher I would wholeheartedly support this initiative. One million guilt-free books that support the environment in both content and publication, bringing one million new trees to the planet…what could be better than that?
Of course, the most obvious way to support the Million Tree-A-Thon initiative is to purchase one of the excellent books in Kedzie’ s catalog. If you have your own website or blog, you can put up the Kedzie Million Tree-A-Thon banner to help spread the word. Or you can join their affiliate program and you’ll earn a 5% commission on click-through sales.
Happy Reading!
