Swap ‘Til You Drop!
Stuff. Here in the U.S. we have too much of it; yet we all seem to find that we need more of it every day. The bad news is that all of this new stuff comes with a hefty price tag for the environment as it depletes resources and creates a mountain of waste. Fortunately, you can ease your eco-guilt, save a fortune, and still get that shopping “high” by trading in your old stuff for new at one of these sweet swapping sites:
Clothing: If you’re addicted to high-fashion, head to Swapstyle, where you can trade your Dior sunglasses for a sass & bide dress. For high-quality duds without the high-fashion label, surf over to Swap Thing where you can find clothes for the whole family. Also check out Clothing Swap, Swap-O-Rama-Rama, and Clothing Swap Meetup to find local swapping events in your area.
Books: Whether you’re looking for the latest bestseller, or a used college text book, why buy new when you can trade for free at sites like Paperbackswap or Book Mooch? Of course, for the ultimate in free and easy book swapping, don’t forget to check out the selection at your local library!
Games: Head over to BarterBee, Goozex, Swaptree, or Switch Planet to trade Xbox, Playstation, and Wii games.
Music and Movies: Upgrade your movie collection by swapping titles at Peerflix. For movie and music swapping, check out BarterBee, Swaptree, or Switch Planet.
Toys: Is your child ready to trade in her building blocks for a telescope? Check out Toy Swap or Toys to Trade to make the swap.
Anything and Everything Else: If you got a lot of different stuff to swap, head over to Swap @ Home or Posh Points and trade everything from craft patterns to DVD players.

I just started up a swapping site targeted at children’s items that get out grown quickly. Hopefully, it can help turn some of the basement clutter into reusable items for others.
It can be used internationally, but swappers must specify if they’re outside of the US so that if shipping is involved, everyone knows what to expect.
We also have a companion blog where people can post their advice and experiences with children’s items, or even photo’s and videos of their kids.

Does anyone know if there are Canadian sites like this?
