Eco-Books Without the Eco-Guilt
As an avid reader, I do love a good book. But I’m always troubled about picking up books at the bookstore, because as an author, I know just how environmentally damaging the publishing industry can be. Thousands of trees are cut down, thousands of chemicals are washed into our waterways, and thousands of pounds of air pollutants are created each year to get my favorite titles to the shelves.
So I was pretty excited to learn about a new way for Green Parents to catch up on their eco-reading. EcoBrain is a green and zero-waste way to read all of your favorite eco-savvy books. After all, who wants to trash the planet just to read a book that tells you how to save it? For a fraction of the retail price, you can download any of EcoBrain’s selections directly to your computer to read and peruse as often as you like.
They’ve got all of my favorite titles, such as Big Green Purse by Diane MacEachern and Gaia Girls: Enter The Earth by Lee Wells as well a few I’ve been meaning to check out, like Worms Eat My Garbage, How To Set Up and Maintain a Worm Composting System by Mary Applehot. Another great way, if you do not like to read books online, is to use a new book rental company called BookSwim.com. They are the Netflix of books. Rent a book, read it, send it back.
